There is a saying that “ignorance is bliss”. That is certainly NOT true when buying real property. The purpose of a quality home inspection is make sure that you know as much as possible about the condition of the home, it’s systems, and its history. Sure, some of what you use a home inspector for is to find things that need to be fixed before you purchase your home, but there is a TON of value in knowing what to keep an eye on in the future, as well as to have a record of your “starting point” when you sell the property later. Use a quality inspector, and try and be there yourself so they can explain things. Not everything can convey as well on paper as it does in person.
